Questions & answers
What is Room to Dig?
Room to Dig is a construction sandbox. You drive excavators, dump trucks, a bulldozer and other machines, dig into ground that really changes, haul the dirt wherever you like and uncover things buried underground. There are no timers and no pressure.
When is it coming out, and where?
Room to Dig is in development and no release date has been announced. Store pages for Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Epic and GOG are coming soon, and the Play page links to each one as it opens.
Is it suitable for young children?
Yes. Heavy assistance gives gentle, slower controls, and the machine plans the scoops and loads the truck. The Young Child setup turns every helper on. There's no combat.
Can I drive the machines properly, like a real operator?
Yes. With assistance set to None you get full control of boom, stick and bucket on the real two-joystick excavator layout. Medium and Light sit in between, and Custom lets you choose each helper.
Does the dirt stay where I put it?
Yes. Holes, trenches, heaps and tyre tracks stay in the world, and your island is saved so you can carry on later. Dirt you dig is the dirt you carry: it isn't created or destroyed along the way.
What can I find underground?
Shells, coins, old bones, fossils, treasure and a few odd surprises. Each find goes into your Discoveries collection with its rarity, depth and the day you found it. Rarer finds are buried deeper.
Are there loot boxes or paid random rewards?
No. Discoveries are found by digging in the game. They have no real-world value and can't be bought.
Can I play with a controller?
Yes. Every screen works with a controller, and button prompts match Xbox, PlayStation or keyboard depending on what you're using.
Are the images on this site real?
Screenshots and clips are captured in-game from development builds, so details may change before release. Menu and world artwork is marked as artwork.
